Suspension

Suspension temporarily removes an employee from some or all normal duties. It may be used during an investigation or as a disciplinary outcome, with different conditions and legal consequences.

Example

An employer temporarily restricts an employee's duties while investigating a serious concern and explains the reason, conditions and review arrangements.

What to keep in mind

Suspension is not automatically a finding of guilt or an entitlement to stop pay. Check necessity, alternatives, applicable payment rules and fair procedure, and review the arrangement rather than leaving it indefinite.
