Workplace Investigation

A workplace investigation gathers and assesses facts about a reported concern or alleged misconduct. It may involve interviews, records and other relevant evidence before conclusions are reached.

Example

An investigator reviews messages, speaks with the people involved and checks witness accounts after a complaint about repeated offensive conduct.

What to keep in mind

Set a clear scope, protect confidentiality as far as possible and avoid promising absolute secrecy. An investigation should be impartial and give affected people an appropriate opportunity to respond.
