Source of Hire

Source of hire identifies the recruitment channel credited with producing a successful hire. Examples include referrals, careers pages, job boards and direct sourcing.

Example

An applicant first learns of a vacancy through a referral but submits the application on the careers site, so the employer applies its defined attribution rule.

What to keep in mind

Choose and document whether you credit first contact, application channel or another event. Without a consistent rule, channel comparisons can misdirect spending even when the underlying hires are unchanged.
