Quality of Hire

Quality of hire evaluates how well new hires meet defined expectations after joining. Employers may combine evidence such as job performance, retention or time to competence, using an explicitly defined method.

Example

A business reviews whether new hires meet role standards after six months and considers manager evidence alongside retention and completion of essential training.

What to keep in mind

There is no universal formula or benchmark. Outcomes also depend on onboarding, management and job conditions, so a score should not attribute every result solely to the recruitment decision.
