Retention Strategy

A retention strategy identifies why employees may leave and selects actions to address avoidable departures. It connects evidence about work conditions, careers, pay and management with defined priorities.

Example

A company finds that technicians leave after qualification because progression is unclear, then introduces visible specialist roles and regular career discussions.

What to keep in mind

Do not assume a bonus solves every retention problem. Check which employees and causes the strategy addresses, and evaluate whether the changes improve the underlying employment experience.
