Mediation

Mediation is a process in which an impartial person helps parties discuss a dispute and explore a mutually acceptable resolution. The mediator generally facilitates agreement rather than imposing a decision.

Example

Two colleagues with an ongoing working conflict agree to a facilitated conversation about communication and future ways of working together.

What to keep in mind

Mediation is not suitable for every complaint and does not replace required investigations or legal procedures. Explain participation, confidentiality and the limits of any agreement before beginning.
