Fit to Work

Fit to work describes whether a person can perform specified duties safely, with any necessary restrictions or adjustments. It is a role-specific assessment rather than a judgement of general personal worth.

Example

An occupational-health assessment recommends a temporary restriction on heavy lifting while confirming that the employee can perform suitable alternative duties.

What to keep in mind

Fitness may change over time and depends on the actual work. Use appropriate professional advice, consider adjustments and review restrictions instead of treating one assessment as permanent or universally applicable.
