Ethics and Compliance

Ethics and compliance combines meeting legal or regulatory requirements with standards for responsible behaviour. It connects formal rules with judgement about how decisions affect people and stakeholders.

Example

An employer trains purchasing staff on legal restrictions and on recognising conflicts that should be disclosed even when a transaction is not clearly prohibited.

What to keep in mind

Legal compliance is a minimum, not a complete answer to every ethical question. Give employees practical advice routes and ensure leaders' actions support the standards stated in policy.
