Code of Ethics

A code of ethics states the principles intended to guide judgement and conduct within an organisation. It often addresses integrity, fairness, responsibility and conflicts of interest.

Example

An organisation explains that employees should disclose personal interests that could influence purchasing decisions and seek advice where impartiality is uncertain.

What to keep in mind

A code of ethics is usually broader than detailed conduct rules. Provide practical examples and escalation routes so employees can apply the principles when a situation is not explicitly covered.
