Ethical HR

Ethical HR applies honesty, fairness and responsible judgement to workforce decisions and HR practice. It includes managing conflicts, protecting information and challenging inappropriate requests.

Example

An HR professional refuses to invent a performance concern to justify a dismissal and explains the need for an evidence-based, lawful process.

What to keep in mind

Ethical practice may require challenging a powerful stakeholder. Establish escalation routes and professional boundaries so that advisers can raise concerns without being expected to legitimise a decision already made.
