Crossboarding

Crossboarding is the structured support given to an existing employee moving into a different role, team or location. It adapts onboarding to someone who already knows the organisation.

Example

An employee moving from support to product operations receives role-specific training, new access permissions and introductions to their new stakeholders.

What to keep in mind

Internal familiarity should not be mistaken for readiness in the new job. Agree a handover, clarify changed responsibilities and review whether the employee still has unnecessary access from the previous role.
