Workforce Segmentation

Workforce segmentation groups workers by characteristics relevant to a business question, such as role, skills, location or employment arrangement. It helps identify differing needs within an overall workforce.

Example

A retention analysis separates recent starters from experienced staff because the causes and timing of departures may differ between those groups.

What to keep in mind

Use categories that support a legitimate purpose and protect small groups from identification. Segmentation should not become a shortcut for stereotyping individuals or withholding opportunities unfairly.
