Workforce Agility

Workforce agility is the ability to adjust skills, assignments or staffing when business needs change. It depends on transferable capability, decision-making speed and workable arrangements for moving people.

Example

When demand shifts between products, cross-trained employees temporarily move to the busier team without leaving essential work uncovered in their original team.

What to keep in mind

Agility does not mean unlimited availability. Consider consultation, training, workload and employment terms before reassigning people, and check whether repeated changes are creating avoidable instability.
