Learning · HR glossary

Microlearning

Microlearning presents a narrowly focused learning activity in a short format. It may be used for a specific task, reminder or small component of a broader development programme.

Example

A two-minute guide shows staff how to find and correct one common expense-claim error at the moment they need the information.

What to keep in mind

Short duration is not an outcome by itself. Complex judgement, interpersonal skills or safety-critical work may need substantial practice and feedback that a brief content item cannot provide alone.
