Leadership Readiness

Leadership readiness is an assessment of whether a person can take on a specified leadership role now or after further preparation. Readiness is relative to the demands of that particular role.

Example

A strong team leader may be ready to manage a second team but still need experience in budgeting before taking responsibility for an entire department.

What to keep in mind

Separate readiness from potential and personal ambition. Someone may have long-term potential without being ready now, or may be capable but not interested in the proposed move.
