Leadership Pipeline

A leadership pipeline is the flow of people developing towards progressively broader leadership responsibilities. It links identification, experience, development and succession across different management levels.

Example

An employer prepares first-time supervisors, experienced team leaders and potential department heads through different assignments matched to the demands of their next role.

What to keep in mind

Moving to a larger leadership role often requires different skills, not simply more of the current job. Check readiness for people management, judgement and delegation rather than relying only on technical performance.
