Joining Formalities

Joining formalities are the administrative steps required when someone starts employment. They can include confirming terms, verifying necessary documents and setting up payroll, benefits and system access.

Example

A new employee signs the required documents, supplies payroll information securely and receives instructions for accessing workplace systems and support.

What to keep in mind

Collect only information that is necessary and lawful. Explain the purpose of each request, provide accessible alternatives and avoid letting paperwork replace role-specific induction and manager support.
