Job Sharing

Job sharing divides one role's responsibilities and working time between two or more people. It requires clear coordination so the role is covered without unnecessary duplication or gaps.

Example

Two employees share a five-day role, agree separate working days and use a structured handover to maintain continuity for colleagues and customers.

What to keep in mind

Specify hours, responsibilities, pay and how shared outcomes will be assessed. Job sharing differs from simply having two unrelated part-time jobs, and workable handover time should be included in planning.
