HR Policies

HR policies state an employer's rules or approach to recurring people matters, such as recruitment, leave, conduct and flexible work. They help make expectations and decision processes consistent.

Example

A leave policy explains eligibility, request procedures, approval responsibilities and how employees can query an incorrect balance.

What to keep in mind

Check that policies reflect current law and actual practice. Explain which provisions are contractual where relevant, and communicate changes rather than assuming employees will discover a revised document themselves.
