Job Leveling

Job leveling assigns roles to levels based on factors such as complexity, responsibility, scope and autonomy. It supports consistent career and pay structures across functions.

Example

An employer distinguishes an analyst who follows established methods from a senior analyst who handles ambiguous problems and guides others' work.

What to keep in mind

Evaluate the role rather than inflating a level to reward a particular person. Current performance, market scarcity and job level are related considerations but should not be treated as the same assessment.
