HR Business Partnering

HR business partnering is an approach in which HR professionals work closely with business leaders to solve workforce problems. Partners translate operating needs into staffing, capability and employee relations decisions.

Example

An HR partner investigates high turnover in a sales team, reviews manager practices with the sales director and agrees changes to onboarding and workload.

What to keep in mind

A business partner should bring evidence and challenge weak assumptions, not simply approve a manager's request. Specialist legal, payroll or compensation questions may still need separate expertise.
