Trade Union

A trade union is an organisation formed to represent workers' interests in employment matters. Depending on local law and recognition arrangements, it may bargain collectively and support members in disputes.

Example

Union representatives raise members' concerns about proposed working-hour changes and seek discussions with the employer through an established channel.

What to keep in mind

Membership, recognition and bargaining rights are governed by applicable law. An employer should not assume that the absence of a formal agreement means workers have no protected rights to organise.
