Reasonable Accommodation

Reasonable accommodation is a change that enables a person to access or perform work under applicable equality or disability law. Related terms, such as reasonable adjustment, are used in some jurisdictions.

Example

An employer considers an accessible workstation or an adjusted assessment format so a qualified person can participate without an unnecessary barrier.

What to keep in mind

What is required depends on the law, circumstances and relevant limits. Discuss individual needs, focus on essential functions and do not assume one standard adjustment suits everyone with the same condition.
