Net Salary

Net salary is the amount remaining from gross earnings after employee deductions and relevant payroll adjustments. It is often called take-home or in-hand pay.

Example

If monthly gross earnings are ₹40,000 and deductions total ₹5,000, net salary is ₹35,000 before any separately handled payments or recoveries.

What to keep in mind

Reimbursements, arrears or loan recoveries can affect the amount transferred to a bank account. Read the payslip components rather than assuming every difference from gross salary is income tax.
