Labour Dispute

A labour dispute is a disagreement concerning employment-related matters between relevant parties, such as workers and an employer. Legal definitions may specify the issues and parties covered.

Example

Workers and management disagree over the interpretation of a wage provision and use the applicable negotiation or dispute-resolution process.

What to keep in mind

Distinguish an individual complaint from a collective or statutory dispute where the rules require it. Jurisdiction, representation and procedure affect the available remedies and appropriate next steps.
