Job Evaluation

Job evaluation assesses the relative demands or value of jobs within an organisation to support a consistent pay structure. It evaluates roles rather than the performance of their current holders.

Example

An employer scores jobs against responsibility, knowledge, problem-solving and working conditions, then groups jobs with comparable demands into pay grades.

What to keep in mind

Internal job value is different from external market pay. Use a documented method, review possible bias and reassess roles when their responsibilities materially change.
