BYOD Policy

A bring-your-own-device policy, or BYOD policy, governs use of personal devices for work. It addresses permitted activities, security, support and separation of personal and business information.

Example

An employer allows work email on personal phones only through an approved application and explains what the organisation can manage or remove.

What to keep in mind

Be clear about monitoring, remote wiping and employee costs. Security controls should not silently expose personal information, and employees need to understand alternatives and what happens when employment ends.
